Dear brothers in Christ!

This town during the history it was an important cultural and political centre for the Szekler ( Székely) people – an ethnic group of Hungarians.

In 1505 the Constitution of Szekler’s was adopted, and a Supreme Court of Szeklerland was established. The capital of Szeklerland, called also as the “Mother town”, is mentioned in documents since 1702.

The population was 400 in 1602, increasing today to 38000 people.

Odorheiu Secuiesc is a fast developing town which has mostly kept his Hungarian character in the heart of Transylvania. There has been a developing culture of small manufactures in Odorheiu Secuiesc since the 1900s. Whole dynasties developed in different fields of economy which laid the basis for the local industry, developing mainly the machine industry, the textile industry, the food industry and the timber industry. One of the biggest thread factories was also founded in this town. The workers were brought in from nearby villages so new living areas were built. The construction industry has also developed to keep up with the growing demand for living places. The job demands of the active population of Odorheiu Secuiesc are mostly covered by companies working with hundreds or thousands of employees. It is a well deserved pride that the confection, printing, furniture products stem from our town is not only highly recognized on the national level but also on the international one. It is generally believed that Odorheiu Secuiesc is a `school city`. This respectable title is due to schools with long past and an intellectual heritage of the people from this town. The first high school was founded in 1593 (Catholic high school) and after 77 years, in 1670 the second high school was founded (Protestant college). Today pridingly with 9 high schools and 3 colleges. This character is the most representative, magnetize thousand of pupils from the region to learn here. A significant number of talented youth learnt in these schools and became relevant personalities for the Hungarian nation. The actual religious composition of the town is: 50%-Romano catholic, 25%-reformed, 12.5%-Unitarian, 2.5%-orthodox, and 10% other. The percentage of new born believers is insignificant, strong churches couldn’t be established in the past. According to OCI (Directory of Network Christian Ministries in Romania) studys in our region only 2% are new born believers, regrettably our county is listed among the last counties in number of Christians. Gospel churches are established very hard, faceing strong obstacles in their growth . In this natural and spiritual circumstancies we start our mission in 1993, and by the grace of God today we take share in a 100 people living church in every Sunday worshiping the Lord in a school main auditorium . We hire another place for weekday activities such as prayer meetings, Bible schools and different type of cell groups. God was who built up and held this church in hard times, and we believe that His favour will be upon us in the future too. We pray for a greater grace to come, for a gradual increaseing and strenght in the work of the Lord preaching the gospel and reaching the people in this region. Our mission includes the whole Szeklerland : we start to plant new churches in other cities like Vlahita and Targu Secuiesc, but our intention is to extend the mission to all Szeklerland. We got from the Lord in our heart to establish a spiritual `headquarter` in this town, becoming a revival center in this region. Other prophecys from several parts of the world confirmed this fact, also the history proved that it is an important city . We believe that the time will come when Odorheiu Secuiesc will be the „Mother City” and „School town” of the Kingdom of God in this land. To fulfil these visions, we believe that we have to start to build phisically too, and to have our own conference hall, a mission centre that will fortify and stabilise the work of God in this area. Frequently we face resistance from autorities in hireing places for evangelisations, conferences, worship services. In order to forward in this direction we start a project to build a 300 capacity conference and worhip hall. We already have our plans. If you want to contribute to this project , and the Lord puts on your heart this mission and you are ready to give in the name of the Lord we will accept it with joy and thankful heart your free will offering. Where the people has been stayed in darkness for centuries and deceived by pagan spirits dressed in religious robe here let the light be raised up, the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ to be preached with power, the people to be repent, the sin be wiped out by the blood of Jesus Christ, in his name the demons to be cast out , the sick people to be healed , the captives to be set free , the time of refreshing may come from the Lord in our land , to our people where hasn’t been a true revival during the history.
