(Ap Csel 15:16-17)

1. The Bible
Our faith is based on the full Scripture, the Bible (66 canonical books included) - God's speech in written form. The living God has revealed His eternal truths through His Holy Spirit to his servants - to people - and gave their written recordings.
2. The person of God and the Trinity
God is spirit, invisible and eternal, the creator, sustainer and controller of the entire universe. He has revealed himself in three distinguishable persons: in the Father, in the Son, and in the Holy Spirit, and these three are one.
1 John 5,7 : "For there are three that testify: the Spirit, the water and the blood, and the three are in agreement."
The FATHER is the perfect and good God, who takes care of all. We can only get to know the Father through Jesus Christ. The Son is the only begotten of God, who has always been, and was incarnated in flesh as Jesus of Nazareth. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary in Bethlehem. In all things he has become like us, except for being sinful. In his life here on earth, he followed the will of the Father, and was obedient to him all things, even in sacrificing himself on the cross. He completed the work of salvation for us, and for this reason the Father raised him from the dead. After his resurrection, he appeared to more than five hundred people, was taken up to heaven in sight of his disciples, and sat down there by his Father's side.
Matthew 28,18b : "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me."
JESUS CHRIST is the only way to get to God:
John 14,6 : "I am the way the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
He is the only intercessor between man and God.
1 Timothy 2,5 : "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus."
The HOLY SPIRIT, the third member of the Trinity is also a real person who comes from the Father and the Son. The Holy Spirit brings praise to Jesus Christ through the Church, and guides all believers to personal fellowship with Christ. He is the spirit of truth, and he teaches us so we may know and worship the Lord:
John 4,24 : "God is Spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth."
3. The Church
The Church is the fellowship of people who are called by God, and believe in Jesus Christ; a fellowship of people who, relying on the witness of the Scriptures, have accepted the work of Salvation Jesus prepared - "that he has in died for our sins, and was raised back to life for our justification" (Romans 4,25). A fellowship of people who repented of their sins, proclaimed their faith in Christ, and were born again in the act of baptism through the Holy Spirit. The Universal Church is not the same as any earthly organization, and points beyond the confines of time and faith. The people who died in the Lord are part of this Church, just as all the believers who live in the world today, since they accepted the salvation that was offered to them. Moreover, those who will becalled by the Lord in the future are also part of this Universal Church. The Church is the Body of Christ, a living organism in which the members are connected to each other. The Body follows the orders of the Head, Jesus Christ.
Colossians 2,19b : "The Head, from whom the whole body, supported and held together by its ligaments and sinews, grows as God causes it to grow."
The local church is the fellowship of believers who are called in one place and time. It is a part of the Universal Church of Christ, and is a manifestation of it. It is at the same time independent, and can regulate its functioning through the leadership of its elders.
4. The main elements of our practice of faith
We believe that the basis for the practice of our faith can only be the God's word, the Bible. We do not want to be associated with any religious practice which is based on human tradition, and does not have a Biblical origin, or goes against the truth that has been revealed in the Scriptures. Every human action which is focused on getting closer to God should spring from personal faith that is based on the Word of God, and not human laws or traditions.
4.1 Repentance
As a result of the fall, every man is born with sin as part of his/her nature, which causes all humans to live sinful lives.
Romans 3,10 : "As it is written: There is no one righteous..."
Romans 3,22-23 : "There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God..."
God invites everyone to repent and be born again:
Acts 17,30 : "In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent."
Matthew 4,17 : "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near."
The power of the sin nature is so great over men that a human being is incapable of freeing himself/herself from its power. Thus, we need God’s supernatural power in order to be freed. It is the Word which is quickened by the Holy Spirit that makes a sinful man capable of breaking away from his old ways, and start living according to the will of the Lord. This change in direction is what we call repentance. Repentance is a conscious decision made of one’s own free will. Through it, one admits to his/her own sinfulness, is saddened by it, he/she humbles himself/herself before the Lord, repents of his/her sins before him, and confesses them with an honest, broken heart to Jesus Christ-God. He/she accepts Jesus Christ’s atoning sacrifice for his/her own life, and calls upon the name of the Lord:
Romans 10,13 : "For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."
After this takes place, he/she quits pursuing sinful acts, and a sinful lifestyle. As a result of repentance and being born again, God considers Jesus Christ’s righteousness as the repentant’sown, and thus frees him/her from all condemnation, and grants him/her eternal life.
Romans 3,24 : "...and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus."
4.2 Being born again
Beingborn again is God’s answer to repentance. God touches the human’s dead spirit, which was previously separated from God as a result of the fall, and brings it to new life through the Holy Spirit.
4.3 Baptism of water
The baptism of water is the outside seal of the inner change that took place as a result of repentance in a Christian’s life. It is a symbolical act in which the believer descends into the death of Christ, and is raised back to life in Jesus’ resurrection. It means that he/she is ready to follow Christ in a way that is pleasing to God in his/her new life. He/she follows the example of Christ, who, when he got baptized, said:
Matthew 3,15 : "It is proper for us to do this to fulfill all righteousness."
Oneshould only be baptized if he/she already has come to a personal faithin Jesus Christ, and has decided to follow Jesus even into getting baptized.
Mark 16,16 : "Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved."
For this reasoninfant baptism does not have a right to exist, since a baby cannotfulfill these Biblical premises: he/she cannot believe, and cannotmake a conscious decision on his/her own accord. With baptism, a Christian fulfills all of God’s expectations concerning becoming a follower of Jesus, so he/she may have fullconfidence in his/her salvation.
4.4 Baptism of the Holy Spirit, or becoming filled with the Holy Spirit
Baptism of the Holy Spirit does not necessarily take place at the same time as being born again, and is definitely not the same thing. The baptism of the Holy Spirit means that the presence and the power of the Holy Spirit totally engulfs and fills up a believer. It is Jesus Christ only who baptizes into the Holy Spirit. It is part of his ministry as a High Priest:
Luke 3,16 : "I baptize you with water. But one more powerful than I will come … he will baptize you in the Holy Spirit and with fire" - These are the words of John the Baptist describing Jesus Christ.
Acts 1,5 : "For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptizedwith the Holy Spirit." These are the words of Jesus after his resurrection, and before he wastaken up to Heaven. The baptism of the Holy Spirit can have different outside signs, but speaking in tongues is one of the definite ones. Speaking in tongues means that the believer begins to speak in a language that was previously unknown by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Acts 2,4 : "All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and they began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them."
Onecan only be filled with the Spirit if he/she believes in Jesus Christ. The power that people receive through the baptism of the Holy Spirit is given for ministry: for preaching the gospel, for witnessing, for healing, for casting out demons, etc.
5. The fruits of the Spirit
Gal. 5,22 : "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control."
The presence of the fruit of the Spirit is a mark of the presence of JesusChrist in the life of a Christian. It proves the honesty of repentance, since these gifts are the characteristics of Jesus himself. (They surfacemore and more strongly in life of a Christian as he/she walks with God. After all, it takes time for fruit to ripen.)
6. The gifts of the Spirit
The Holy Spirit still works in supernatural ways in the Church through Spirit-filled Christians who receive the gifts of the Spirit by the sovereign choice of God. According to 1 Cor. 12, the following gifts exist: the gifts of revelation: word of knowledge, word of wisdom, distinguishing between spirits, the gifts of power: faith, healing, miraculouspowers, the gifts of speaking: prophesying, speaking in tongues, interpretation of tongues. The Gifts of the Holy Spirit are given in order to advance the building up of the Body of Christ. They are given to help with spiritual and physical needs, and to solve problems. They help us continue and extend the ministry Jesus began.
7. Ministry gifts
The greatest leader of the Church is Jesus. He is the head of the Church, and every ministry is under his authority.
Ephesians 4,11-12 : "It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up."
The ministry gifts are given to help people serve and not rule.
Apostle: The ambassador and messenger of Jesus Christ. His job is to plant and strengthen churches.
Prophet: The conveyer of God’s message. He receives revelations and visions from God in order to help build the Church.
Evangelist: The messenger of the Good News of Salvation through Christ. He continues the work of Jesus: he preaches the kingdom of God, heals the sick, and casts out demons.
Pastor: The one to watch over the local church. He is its leader and helper. He offers fitting spiritual "food" to the flock.
Teacher: He helps people to get to know God. He teaches and explains things, and educates peoplein the Word of God.
8. Services
We have our services weekly, on every Sunday. On these occasions, the members of the congregation come together so they can express their respect, love, thankfulness and worship towards God in the name of Jesus with the helpof the Holy Spirit.
The main parts of the Services:
Prayer: praying together, coming closer toGod in prayer, intercession, praying for each other to deal with spiritual, emotional or physical needs or problems.
Worship: we express ourgratitude, respect, praise and love towards God. We use a free flowingform which has space for loud singing, clapping and dancing, and bowingdown in the Lord’s presence.
Witnessing, sharing: we share about what God has done in our lives with each other.
Preaching: an important part of the service, during which the Word of God and all of God's known truth is preached and taught.
Lord's supper: at certain special services we symbolically express our unity with Jesus Christ's body and blood through the bread and the wine.
Tithing: we tithe in order to spread the Gospel more effectively, to take care of the financial needs of the congregation, and to help those believers in need.
9. The goal of our faith
The ultimate goal of our faith is personal encounter with God. The real basis of our faith is the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
